Officer Daryn Cherry

I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. After graduating high school, I continued my education and received an associates degree in Wildlife Resource Management. I then served in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer/ Military Working Dog Handler. I enjoyed the work I was able to do in my time in the Marines which ultimately drove me to pursue a career in law enforcement after my military service. I enjoy a lot about this profession, including enforcing laws which ultimately serve the community and help keep the town’s residents safe. The family atmosphere our department fosters is important to me. Being able to have close relationships with the people you work with makes the day-to-day stressors of this profession much more enjoyable. My goals in the department include becoming a K9 handler, being a Field Training Officer, and promoting to Sergeant. My advice to anyone seriously interested in this career would be this; give it all the effort you have. This is not your typical 9 to 5 job and can be extremely rewarding to those who give it the effort it deserves.
